E17 Art House frames Art Trail cover design

The E17 Art House team, Walthamstow is honoured to have been asked to frame the original cover artwork for this year’s E17 Art Trail guide 2010. The sampler-style art on paper was created by design duo “Happily Ever After”, based in Hatherley Mews, E17 to represent the tapestry of Walthamstow life.

Walthamstow is recorded around 1075 as Wilcumestowe – “The Place of Welcome”, and in the Doomsday Book as Wilcumstou. This year’s theme “Welcome to Walthamstow” was inspired by this original naming and by the hospitality of Walthamstow’s artists and communities exhibiting during the E17 Art Trail, opening up their gardens, studios and living rooms to intrepid art-lovers, and offering them tea and cake!

When Robert Elms from BBC Radio London took his afternoon show to Walthamstow Town Square, he proclaimed that the people of Walthamstow were the friendliest and most welcoming he had encountered in all of London! He interviewed Anna Alcock (from the excellent Inky Cuttlefish Print Studio) and our very own Kirsten Schmidt (artist and now co-owner of E17 Art House) live on the show.

E17 Art House extends this Walthamstow welcome with our “We Are Your Friends” show on for the duration of the E17 Art Trail 3rd-12th September 2010.

We have some super London art and design talent lined up, including artists from Dalston Print Club, so don’t be shy in stopping by – it’s going to be a great show. We’ll be taking picture framing orders too as usual, so drop by if you need some framing inspiration and advice, we’re very friendly!
