Thanks to everyone who took time out to come to our show preview on Wednesday. It was another great evening at E17 Art House and a fantastic start to our E17 Art Trail show “We Are Your Friends”.
Our first weekend of the E17 Art Trail has been phenomenal. We have had hundreds of visitors already, and we’ve been getting a great response from you about the show.
With 200 exhibitions and events to choose from, many of you are putting us on your shortlist of must-sees on the E17 Art Trail, so thank you!
Are you local?
One of the best things about the Art Trail is getting to know each other! It has really brought about a sense of community; neighbours joining one another to display art in their street, artists welcoming others into their homes and gardens, and people feeling a part of something special that belongs to everyone in Walthamstow. We have met so many great people through this experience, and Walthamstow really is a hub of creativity – for visual arts, music and poetry.
Hey, we’re over here!
E17 Art House is still very new, as we opened at the beginning of July this year. Our entrance is on Stainforth Road, just opposite the Church Hill Post Office Depot. We are really central, less than 5 minutes from Walthamstow Central Station in fact. Look out for our pink door.
We have met many fellow Walthamstowians, who didn’t know about E17 Art House before the Trail, and who have told us they are so glad to have discovered our little picture framing workshop and gallery. It makes us very happy and proud to be here, to have had such a warm welcome.
We have also framed some fab pieces of art for artists in the E17 Art Trail, including embroidery (using our super clear specialist glass), paintings on silk, etchings and pastel drawings. It was great to get a sneak peek of the work before it was displayed.
Children’s Printmaking Fun Fun Fun!
Yesterday afternoon (Sunday) we opened the Art House doors for our “We Are Your Friends” exhibition and lino-printing with children, and what an incredible turnout we had. Kirsten was printing with the kids non-stop for 3 hours!
If you missed it, Kirsten will be lino-printing with children (4 years +) next Sunday 12th September from 12-3pm. Just drop-in, it is FREE and takes less than 10 minutes. The children take home images created by artist Kirsten, that they have printed themselves.
Fantastical Animals
One artist showing in “We Are Your Friends”, is Iain Hector, who creates incredible screenprints often featuring animals. Inspired by his hybrid creatures like this “Coctopus” (right), we also had fun with the children yesterday inviting them to create their own fantasy mixed animals.
Shown is a small selection of the children’s wonderful drawings. From left to right is Sam’s fantastic “Moogle” (moose+eagle), excellent “Fishcat” by Sofia, and “Cathorsegirl” by the very talented Melissa.
