New Arteast17 Magazine Launch

Taking time out from picture framing in our busy workshop, we made it to the launch party for the much anticipated new Arts magazine for E17 and East London at The Rose and Crown pub – and what a triumph!
ARTEAST17 magazine looks good, feels good, and is FREE!

Creators Matthew Cooke and Kate Tilmouth aim to publish 10 issues per year, available from selected outlets in East London. Along with Visual Arts, Arteast17 Magazine covers music, performance, word, craft and design in Walthamstow and its surrounding areas. A very user-friendly magazine, it’s much needed to publicise all the arts activity in Walthamstow. (Did you know there are weekly Life-Drawing classes in the room above the Nags Head pub?)

The uncredited front cover image is a light trail photograph by photographer and Editor of Arteast17 Kate Tilmouth. A great first cover, capturing the energy that went into creating the magazine and the excitement of seeing it come to fruition. IT’S ALIVE!

One of the artists featured in this first issue is sculptor Jim Jack. The photos taken by Kate of Jim’s incredible studio would not look out of place in a high-end design and interiors magazine. A few nice features are the “Postcards From The Art Trail”; a fun look back to September’s hugely popular E17 Art Trail, and the “Artists Noticeboard” on the back page where artists and small creative organisations can “pin” their business card to a corkboard image.

E17 Art House Feature

E17 Art House was one of the first contributors to the magazine. Matthew and Kate were keen to see our gallery and on-site picture framing workshop where we cut and fit all the bespoke frames. Our little gallery was looking good with a selection of new art on the walls and great unframed prints for sale too.

Having opened in July this year we are a unique space, offering a professional picture framing service and a super selection of affordable art, including work from local artists like Catboy, Anja Jane and A Two Pipe Problem, and cool international artists like Kozyndan (think Hokusai’s wave print..with bunnies).

Conservation Picture Framing at E17 Art House

With experience framing original artwork from Matisse and Picasso, to Damien Hirst and Banksy at “Frame” picture framers in Notting Hill where we were previously based for many years, we have brought our knowledge of suitable framing techniques, Conservation materials and great presentation with us for E17 Art House customers.

With great original art being so affordable these days a good picture framer can be invaluable in offering advice on preserving as well as presenting art. At E17 Art House we are passionate about making customers’ art look fantastic – and about protecting it. We achieve this by using archival materials and methods which won’t damage the artwork (and will even protect it from airborne pollutants).

You can read more about E17 Art House on page 38 of Arteast17 Magazine. Don’t have your copy yet? You can pick up Arteast17 magazine at E17 Art House now.

Check our Visit Us page for an easy map for how to get to E17 Art House. (If you know Church Hill Post Office Depot, we are opposite on Stainforth Road).
